The Upper Calder Valley market town of Hebden Bridge is a pretty place with quaint shops, surrounded by beautiful landscape. The name for Hebden comes from the Anglo-Saxon Heopa Denu, meaning 'Bramble (or possibly Wild Rose) Valley' and also comes from the old bridge across the River Hebden on an old packhorse route.
Hebden Bridge in recent years is famous for being the filming locations for "Happy Valley" and "Ackley Bridge."
