Melton Mowbray
It lies on the River Eye which changes its name below Melton Mowbray to the Wreake. It is known for a culinary speciality, the Melton Mowbray pork pie, and as the location of one of the six licensed makers of Stilton cheese. This has led to it being promoted as Britain's "Rural Capital of Food". The famous Melton Mowbray pies were baked free standing which gave them a bow-shaped appearance when they came out of the oven. ... the grey meat, crunchy pastry, the pork jelly filling and a unique bow-shape of the pie rose to fame as the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie because of cheese, pigs and fox hunting.
